AsOne Global is a non-profit organization providing free education to impoverished children.
The Ugandan government does not subsidize public education which presents a tremendous financial burden on extremely poor families. In an attempt to provide at least one of their children with an education parents make the difficult decision to send their kids (sometimes as young as 4 years old) into the hot sun for days just to earn a few cents for school. Very often children miss entire school years because it takes so long to earn enough money for school fees.
- More than 50% of the Ugandan population is under the age of 15 years old.
- It costs $360 per year to send one child to school in Uganda.
- The average family is raising seven children on an income of just over $600 a year.
AsOne Global invests in sustainable income generation projects which subsidize construction and daily operations of Sekito Junior School in order to eliminate the financial stress of school fees and the need for child labor.
